How

YouTube is one of the greatest web applications ever.  However, the sound quality of the clips is not very good due to bandwidth restrictions.  This pains me greatly, as I’d love to give you the best quality sound I can.  Because of technical and legal issues, it’s far easier for me to just link to YouTube content.

But this is just a tool to help you find music.  If you like something, you should definitely hear it with a good quality sound system.

And, in my opinion, nothing beats having the actual album, whether CD or vinyl, on your shelf.

Many, if not most, of these tracks were reasonably successful, and so many will probably be buried behind song # 3,427 in your friends’ iPods.  That seems to be the trend.  “1000 hits of the 1970’s!  Download NOW!”  But you lose the context, both musically and biographically with the artists.

So if you see something you like in here, go to the source.  It will make a huge difference.

And please, if at all possible, support these artists by buying their work.  True, some of these folks have achieved some much-deserved wealth, but for every great success, there are thousands of others who scrape by on ever-diminishing royalty checks.
